War and Armed Conflict Disruption Cover

War & Armed Conflict Disruption Cover for travel agents and distributors

Give your clients access to a first-of-its-kind Australian travel insurance extension designed to provide limited support if they are unexpectedly affected by war or armed conflict after their trip has already started.

A meaningful point of difference for your clients

War and armed conflict are not normally covered under travel insurance. Go Insurance's War & Armed Conflict Disruption Cover provides limited support if an insured traveller is unexpectedly affected while already overseas.

Limited medical-related protection is included automatically for eligible claims, with an optional upgrade available to help with additional travel and accommodation costs if the trip is disrupted after departure.

Important: This is limited cover only. It does not provide broad or open-ended war cover and only applies in the circumstances described in the policy wording.

Why agents are talking about it

  • Limited medical-related cover included automatically where conditions are met
  • Optional disruption cover available for additional travel and accommodation costs
  • Designed for unexpected events after travel has started
  • Helps agents explain an important modern travel risk clearly
  • Provides a differentiated travel insurance proposition

How the cover works

Included automatically

  • Medical cover for eligible claims where a traveller is unexpectedly injured while overseas in a war or armed conflict event
  • Emergency medical assistance and medically necessary repatriation
  • Accidental death and permanent disability benefits for eligible claims

Optional disruption upgrade

  • Additional accommodation costs up to $250 per day and $2,000 total
  • Additional travel and transport costs up to $3,000
  • Journey rerouting assistance
  • Early return travel costs where necessary
  • Up to $5,000 per insured person in total
Important for family travellers: Dependent children covered under the policy do not pay an additional premium for the optional War & Armed Conflict Disruption Cover upgrade. However, each insured traveller may access their own benefit entitlement. A family of two adults and two dependent children could therefore have access to up to $20,000 in total disruption benefits if all eligibility requirements are met and the optional cover has been selected.

Key conditions agents should understand

  • The event must occur after the traveller has departed
  • The traveller must be in or knowingly travelling through the affected area
  • The event must be new and unexpected
  • No active involvement in the conflict
  • No pre-existing Do Not Travel warning before travel to that location
  • Optional disruption benefits only apply if selected and shown on the Certificate of Insurance
